This first toasty weekend in April, Torontonians celebrated the warm wave with sunny tunes of the Caribbean, brought to you by the NuJazz Society, sweeping over an eclectic audience at Mod Club.

Whether you sway to Latin, Indo/South Asian or African jazz, the Nu Jazz Society with their highly acclaimed Jazz by Genre series has the concert concept for you.

Straight from Trinidad, Kobo Town warmed up the crowd before Andy Narell & His Band basked in the limelight. Their Calypso style, bold with political influence on upbeat lyrics, jazzed up the night with reggae sounds. David Rudder made an appearance on stage, along with beatbox and spoken word by Eddy Da Original One, Subliminal, Al St. Louis, and Anne-Marie Woods.

The Mod Club’s decor of dark shades, tall tables, hip bar stools and awesome acoustics spectacularized the show, complete with eye-catching projection screens glowing round all night to give everyone top view.

So whether you sway to Latin, Indo/South Asian or African jazz, the Nu Jazz Society with their highly acclaimed Jazz by Genre series has the concert concept for you. Check out jazzbygenre.com to be up on the next big thing brought to you by the NuJazz Society.
